What the site covers
Four datasets. For each one: what is in it, where it came from, and what it does not contain.
Live grid conditions
Load, generation by fuel, real-time locational prices and operator alerts for 8 markets: ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO, NYISO, ISO New England and Ontario’s IESO. Each page is built from that operator’s own published files and links back to them.
Not included: anything the operator does not publish. Several operators publish no reserve margin and some publish no alert feed; those sections say “not available” rather than showing a zero. Data that has gone stale is labelled stale.
Power plant directory
The EIA-860M operating inventory: 14,659 plants, 28,318 generating units, 1,409 GW of nameplate capacity across 51 states. Split into twelve fuel families with a national map, a page for every state that has one, and a page per plant carrying county, operator, unit count, operating year, status and coordinates. Planned projects get their own pages.
Not included: generation output, emissions, ownership structure, power purchase agreements or interconnection queue position. None of those is on EIA-860M. EIA surveys plants of 1 MW and above, so smaller sites and rooftop solar are absent from the source itself.
Data centre directory
1,956 facilities across 48, from two open sources kept separate and labelled row by row: county and city permit GIS layers, which carry building status, floor area, parcel and nearest substation; and OpenStreetMap, which carries name, operator, website and a point.
Not included: commissioned megawatts, tenants, lease terms and utilisation. No public record states any of them for a US data centre, so no page here states them. And no complete public roster exists, so every count on those pages is presented as a floor.
Interconnection insight
Close readings of the filings that decide projects: FERC orders, ISO tariffs, state commission rules and planning reports. Every figure in a piece is sourced to one of the documents listed on it, and linked.
Hosting capacity archive
Repeated captures of utility hosting-capacity and interconnection data, kept over time so the changes are visible — PG&E integration capacity analysis and grid needs assessment, the large-load request queue, and a change feed across captures.
