Live conditions — MISO energy grid
no active system-wide MISO Real-Time Operations notification (last 25 checked; local load-pocket advisories excluded)
as of · source: www.misoenergy.org
The condition is MISO’s own operating state for the Midwest & South grid — normal, a watch when reserves run thin, or an emergency. It is copied from the operator’s notices, not inferred here; where the operator publishes no feed this page can read, it says so rather than guessing.
Load — MISO demand
Load is total demand served on the MISO system in megawatts. Figures are the values in the export; a dash means the feed did not carry the number, not that it was zero.

Generation by fuel is a single snapshot at its own as-of time, using MISO’s own fuel categories. It moves through the day — solar at midday, gas and storage into the evening.
Prices (LMP) — MISO LMP
as of · source: public-api.misoenergy.org
A locational marginal price (LMP) is the cost of serving one more megawatt-hour at a given node: energy, plus congestion, plus losses. The spread between the lowest and highest node is congestion on the MISO transmission system. Negative prices mean surplus supply, usually wind or solar, at that location.
Map — MISO energy map
MISO LMP contour map
Real-Time 5-minute ex-post LMP, commercial pricing nodes; 317 of 2628 placed using positions from MISO's LMP contour map (LCC → WGS84) across 2,628 pricing nodes: low -317.82 $/MWh, average 367.42 $/MWh, high 893.52 $/MWh.
Every market on one page: nodal LMP map.
The map colours every MISO pricing node by its latest real-time LMP. The power plant and balancing authority maps linked below show what generates inside the MISO footprint and where its boundary runs.

FAQ — Midwest ISO
What is MISO?
MISO, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, runs the grid and wholesale electricity market across all or part of 15 US states and the Canadian province of Manitoba. It publishes as MISO Energy at misoenergy.org.
Is MISO the same as the Midwest ISO?
Yes. It was founded as the Midwest ISO and renamed the Midcontinent Independent System Operator in 2013 as its footprint grew south into Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
What is the MISO LMP?
The MISO LMP is the locational marginal price at each pricing node, cleared every five minutes in MISO’s real-time market. The Prices section summarises the average, minimum and maximum of the latest interval.
Is there a MISO LMP contour map?
MISO publishes its own LMP contour map on misoenergy.org. The Map section here links to a nodal price map whose MISO LMP map layer doubles as a MISO energy map, coloured by the latest real-time price at each node as of the time shown.
Where is a MISO map of the footprint?
The balancing authority map linked below outlines the MISO map footprint next to its neighbours, and the power plant map shows the generators inside it.
How does MISO transmission affect prices?
MISO transmission constraints are what separate one node’s price from another’s: when a line is loaded to its limit, prices on either side diverge. MISO plans new lines through its annual MISO Transmission Expansion Plan (MTEP).
Where do I find MISO news?
The Alerts & news section lists MISO notices from the latest capture — conservative operations, capacity advisories and emergency alerts — with links to the originals. MISO news beyond operations is on misoenergy.org.
