Live conditions — New York grid

Not available
not in the NYISO feeds this page reads
Start of day system state is NORMAL (logged 09/12/2026 00:00:00 ET; no later state change in the log)

as of · source: mis.nyiso.com

The condition is NYISO’s own operating state for the New York grid — normal, a watch when reserves run thin, or an emergency. It is copied from the operator’s notices, not inferred here; where the operator publishes no feed this page can read, it says so rather than guessing.

Load — NYISO demand

Current load
19,617 MW
sum of the 11 NYISO zones in the real-time actual load file (pal.csv)
Forecast peak today
19,677 MW
max hourly NYISO-total value in today's ISO load forecast file (isolf.csv); the file carries no issue time, so as_of is the market day start
Load vs forecast peak
100%
current ÷ forecast peak

Load is total demand served on the NYISO system in megawatts. Figures are the values in the export; a dash means the feed did not carry the number, not that it was zero.

Generation by fuel is a single snapshot at its own as-of time, using NYISO’s own fuel categories. It moves through the day — solar at midday, gas and storage into the evening.

Prices (LMP) — NYISO zonal prices

Average
$56.30
$/MWh, real-time
Lowest node
$51.03
Highest node
$60.79

as of · source: mis.nyiso.com

A locational marginal price (LMP) is the cost of serving one more megawatt-hour at a given node: energy, plus congestion, plus losses. The spread between the lowest and highest node is congestion on the NYISO transmission system. Negative prices mean surplus supply, usually wind or solar, at that location.

FAQ — NYISO

What is NYISO?

NYISO, the New York Independent System Operator, runs New York State’s bulk power grid and its wholesale electricity markets.

Is this the NYISO dashboard?

No. NYISO’s official real-time dashboard is on nyiso.com. This NYISO dashboard summary shows the same public figures with an as-of time and a link to the file each came from.

Why are New York City power prices higher?

NYISO prices each of its 11 load zones, A through K. Transmission into New York City (Zone J) and Long Island (Zone K) is constrained, so prices there often clear above upstate zones.
